Welcome to our Winery
Winery Cobenzl Vienna, located right in the Vienna Woods, high above the River Danube, with a marvellous view of the city, is one of the top wineries of Vienna. Under its current manager Thomas Podsednik, the winery produces a range of excellent quality wines that are highly appreciated by wine lovers and experts alike.
Best vineyards and ideal climate
The Winery Cobenzl Vienna cultivates about 60 hectares of vineyards in Grinzing, on Nussberg and on Bisamberg. These vineyards with resounding names such as Ried Pfeffer, Ried Seidenhaus, Ried Reisenberg and Ried Bellevue are among the very best winegrowing sites in the city. The unique microclimate and the closeness of the River Danube are ideal preconditions for delicately fruity, mineral wines. Thanks to the Bisamberg's warm, dry southern exposure and loose, sandy soil, Burgundy varietals rich in finesse flourish here particularly well.
The emphasis is on traditional Viennese varietals: from fruity white wines such as the "Grüner Veltliner" and "Riesling" to stronger white wines such as “Weißburgunder” and full-bodied red wines.
The "Wiener Gemischte Satz" (mixed composition) has a special place among white wines. It received DAC classification for the first time in 2013. DAC stands for Districtus Austriae Controllatus, which is Latin for Controlled District of Austria. The Winery Cobenzl Vienna produces two lines of this Viennese wine specialty: the classical "Wiener Gemischte Satz DAC" and the "Wiener Gemischte Satz DAC Reisenberg".
